The Hyundai Factory, whose foundation was laid on September 25, 1995 in Izmit, was completed in a record time and started mass production in July 1997, was opened with a ceremony held on September 20, 1997. The factory has an existing area of 1 million square meters, a factory area of 233 thousand square meters and a closed area of 108 thousand square meters in Izmit - Ali Kahya Town.
The factory, which was established with an investment of 180 million USD in the first stage, now has a production capacity of 125 thousand units. With the announcement made in May 2012, the annual production capacity of Hyundai Assan Izmit Factory will be increased to 200 thousand units with a brand new investment. With this investment of 382 million dollars, Hyundai Assan will add a new model to the production line at the end of 2013. The new model, which will start production as of the end of 2013 and will add value to our country by being imported to all of Europe, will be Hyundai\'s new model to be included in the A segment. With this investment, Hyundai will create additional employment for approximately 750 people at the factory. Thanks to this investment, which reaches a total of 607 million dollars, together with the supplier industry producers, approximately 2 thousand 400 new jobs will be created in the region. Thus, Hyundai Assan Factory will become an even more important production center in the region with the production of A and B segment vehicles.
