The artistic adventure of Hereke masterpieces, the oldest examples of which adorn the Ottoman palaces, begins with the Hereke Fabrika-i Hümayun-u, which was established in 1843 in the name of Sultan Abdülmecit. Hereke carpets, one of our first national export products, were deemed worthy of the first prize in all international exhibitions and competitions with their quality workmanship and unique examples.
Hereke carpets, which became famous in Europe, were used in almost all of the great architectural works built in the 19th century, especially the Berlin Palace and The Hague Peace Palace, and became a part of European culture. Over time, it expanded its borders further and extended to its examples in the White House.
