Kartonsan entrepreneurs conducted by the state at a time when the production of paper and with a bold move Turkey\'s \"first\" as a special coated cardboard manufacturer was founded in 1967. Kartonsan started production in 1970, it is Turkey\'s leading manufacturer of coated cardboard in Europe and the fourth largest in terms of production capacity today. According to the data of 2015 Kartonsan coated cardboard market in Turkey it has a 31% market share.

Founded in 1967, Kartonsan is a pioneering and leading brand that introduced the market to domestic coated cardboard.

1970

Kartonsan starts the production of coated box cardboard.

1980

Increasing its capacity every year, Kartonsan starts the project work of its second production line KM2.

1985

Kartonsan treatment facilities become operational.

1986

The KM2 line becomes operational and Kartonsan\'s production capacity increases by 160%.

Kartonsan\'s shares begin to be traded on the ISE National Market.

1993

Computer controlled lines are established.

Daily production capacity of KM2; It increases to 300 tons with additional investments and machine optimization.

1995

Its 25th year will be a year full of innovations and awards for Kartonsan.

It starts to produce its own electricity with three turbines that can work with natural gas and diesel.

Kartonsan\'s environmental awareness is documented with the Green Chimney of the Kocaeli Chamber of Industry and the Environment Incentive Awards of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry.

1996

The power plant, whose expansion investment has been completed, begins to generate electricity and steam with an installed power of 19.2 MW.

1997

At the Kartonsan Power Plant, work begins on a turbo-generator and a waste heat boiler.

2002

The extension work at the Kartonsan treatment plant is completed.

2003

Kartonsan starts to sell the surplus energy it generates to the interconnected system.

Kartonsan\'s Integrated Management System (ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System) applications are approved and certified by Bureau Veritas.

2006

The bleaching facility is commissioned in the Kartonsan dough preparation department. Thus, the rate of use of recycled paper is greatly increased, as an important step in environmentally friendly activities.

2009

With the successfully completed project, KM1\'s capacity is increased by 50%. Kartonsan\'s total production capacity reaches 180 thousand tons / year.

The product range expands with the addition of NP 200, which provides a 10% weight advantage over other cardboards used in the same area.

2010

The number of countries exported to increases to 25.

Paper by Nature and FSC-CoC certification studies are initiated within the framework of the approach of supporting environmental awareness and sustainable natural resources.

2011

Production, sales and turnover records of the 41 years that have passed since the establishment are broken.

Kartonsan reinforced its position among Europe\'s leading manufacturers at its 41st anniversary.

2012

A 16 million Euro supply letter of intent to increase the capacity of KM2 by about 50% is signed with the Austrian company Andritz AG.

With the FSC-CoC certification studies, the project for transition to SAP system is completed.

2013

A record sales level is reached with a sales amount of 172 thousand tons. SAP system is put into use. KM2 investment studies continue.

2014

The project for KM2 capacity increase is completed in 2014. Kartonsan\'s production capacity increases by 60% in KM2 and 30% in total.

Within the scope of the expansion investment, efforts are made to control energy and natural resource consumption, and improvements are made to reduce steam consumption.

In 2014, within the scope of the Regulation on Tracking of Greenhouse Gas Emissions, a plan for tracking greenhouse gas emissions arising from Kartonsan\'s activities is prepared and submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.

By establishing an Energy Management team, ISO 50001 Energy Management System requirement studies are initiated; After the inspection by Bureau Veritas, the ISO 50001 Energy Management System certificate is awarded.

2015

2015 will be the year of optimization for the expansion and modernization investment and efforts are made to this end.

In addition, with the production of 200,013 tons in total in 2015, Kartonsan reached the highest production amount in its history.
